Features

New Hardware Support

  • Manage IBM OpenPower S822LC for HPC, "Minsky" Servers (8335-GTB)

New Arguments

  • more diskless osimage attributes are exported to "postinstall" script as environment variables

    These attributes can be used in the "postinstall" scripts on diskless rootimg customization. Resolves Issue #1857

  • Add option 'vlan' for rspconfig

    With this option, user can set or get vlan ID for the specified BMC.

New Functions

  • rinv noderange {model|serial|deviceid|uuid|guid|vpd|mprom|firm|all}

    rinv now supports retrieving specific inventory information for Open POWER servers. See man pages for specific details.

  • switchdiscover [<noderange>|--range ipranges] [-s scan_methods] [--setup]

    Switch based switch discovery. By specifing the --setup option, the switchdiscover command will discover switches present across the range of IP specified and do some basic configuration (static IP, hostname, SNMP). The mapping happens using the predefined switch object in xCAT based on the switchname and switchport attributes.

  • mkdef -z < <object definition stanza file>

    support object creation with IO redirect of a stanza file. Resolves Issue #1671

  • xcatprobe new subcommands

    nodecheck - Verify no two node objects have the same MTM + serial number

    osimagecheck - Verify no two osimage objects have the same value for rootimgdir attribute

  • rflash supports firmware flashing on IBM OpenPower "Minsky" servers

Dropped Arguments

  • The "dev" and "celogin1" options of rspconfig are dropped.

Restrictions and Known Issues

  • Issue #1881 For the Minsky Servers, the recommendation is to use the left port (BMC/eth0) dedicated for the BMC and the right port (eth1) for the compute node. If both ports are configured with a dynamic range, there will be some issues encountered during the discovery process. The genesis kernel will be sent to both interfaces.

    Work around: Delete the file associated with the BMC network under the /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/p/ directory. Note: This file must be deleted each time mknb is executed which happens automatically on install/upgrade of xCAT.

  • For the new switch-based switch discovery (switchdiscover .. --setup), only Blade Network Technologies (BNT) G8052 switches are supported in this release.

  • Issue #1873 Failed to find the directory: /.statelite/persistent after Redhat7.x statellite installation

  • Issue #1887 "lsdocker -l" might fail on ubuntu14.04.4-x86 Docker host
